We Empower Youths and Families

Alternate Life Paths Program, Inc. is a decades-old, not-for-profit, community-based agency whose programs are designed to provide and/or identify services needed to deter the destructive activities of youthful offenders and homeless youth (now known as "high-risk" and "at-risk" youth), empower them and their families to pursue positive life endeavors, and to assist them in the maintenance of their productive pursuits.

ALPP addresses identified problems and accomplishes its mission through the following components:

Our Emergency Housing Program is designed to provide temporary food, shelter and redirective life-management training for female homeless or runaway youths between 13-18 years of age each year.

Intake hours are 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Monday-Friday (Available space limited).

ALPP Girls' Group HomeThe Girls' Group-Home

The Girls' Group Home has provided the 24-hour residential component since 1985. It is a structured self-help program for 12 females between 14-17 years of age each year. It includes individualized instructions and guidance in personal life-management skills and firm discipline and encouragement. Residents also receive day program services.

ILS buildingThe Independent Living Skills Apartment Program

Young women learn study skills and work to complete their educationsThis program has provided housing and redirective life-management training for 26, 17-21 year old homeless young women, with and without children, annually since 1989. All residents are required to work and/or attend school, attend weekly skills development workshops and counseling. Each resident also receives educational, medical, vocational and other social service assistance through staff and Higher-Grounds Program.

All residents are required to attend weekly and daily counseling sessions and skills development workshops. Each resident will also receive education, vocational, medical and other services assistance through staff and other service linkage agencies.

The Higher-Grounds Program

Comprehensive redirective services, individualized for each youthFocus on academics for a bright future.This is the 26-year-old, coed day component of ALPP, Inc. It provides comprehensive redirective services for boys and girls between 16-21 years of age and who have been involved in the juvenile /criminal justice system and/or who are out of school.

Individualized programs are designed and implemented to meet each youth’s specific educational, vocational and personal needs. An average of 60 youths are served each year.

Services are provided between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. However, schedules may be modified, when needed, to accommodate youths' circumstances.
